40 Fun Facts About Great American RV

At Great American RV, we know a thing or two about adventure—and after 4 decades in the RV business, we’ve collected plenty of milestones and memories to prove it! To celebrate our 40th anniversary, we’re sharing 40 fun facts about our journey, our team, and the RVs we love. Whether you’re a long-time customer or new to the world of RVing, these tidbits will give you a glimpse into the heart of who we are and why we’re so passionate about what we do!

1.

Our story began in 1984 when we opened in Hammond, Louisiana as Dixie RV SuperStores.

Great American RV has been family-owned and operated since the beginning
and is proud to hold these family values in our day-to-day business, providing a superior level of service and care.

3.

In 2004, our current flagship Hammond, LA dealership was constructed.
This paved the way for the level of care and attention to detail seen throughout our 11 dealerships today.

Our mascot, Hap E. Camper was created in 2005 – nearly 20 years ago!

Our Defuniak Springs, FL dealership opened in 2010 – becoming the 2nd location in the company.

6.

In 2014, we expanded to Breaux Bridge, LA – our 2nd location in the state and 3rd location in the company.

7.

In 2017, we headed north to open our Calera, AL dealership and one year later in 2018, we added our second Alabama location in Grand Bay.
This brought our total number of dealerships to five.

In 2021, we re-branded from Dixie RV SuperStores to Great American RV SuperStores
to align with our goals of expanding our dealership footprint and being the RV dealer of choice for campers nationwide.

Following our re-brand, growth came quickly as we opened 6 new dealerships between the summer of 2021 and the summer of 2022
– bringing us to a total of 11 dealerships we have today.

We’re pet-friendly! Many people travel with their pets in their RVs, so we welcome all well-behaved pets at our dealerships.

Our Heflin, Alabama dealership is our newest location and was built from the ground up to be a state-of-the-art RV destination.
It’s located just 10 minutes from the Georgia border, allowing us to better serve the Atlanta and North/West Georgia markets

Our Tupelo, MS dealership is the closest Tiffin Motorhomes Dealer to Red Bay, AL where Tiffin’s main factory is located.

Our Memphis, TN dealership is located just 5 minutes from Graceland – the home of Elvis Presley.

Many of our dealerships have state parks less than an hour’s drive away!

Giving back to the communities we serve is very important to us. Annually, we support our local communities through
sponsorships, toy drives, disaster relief efforts, and more.

We are proud to support our military servicemen and women with military discounts in our Camping Store and specially-designed loan options.

Throughout the year, we host numerous on-site events at our dealerships to provide a show-like setting without the added cost to customers of
parking, admission, etc. We often have manufacturer reps on-site, free food, and activities for the kids.
